Dalmatian Traffick is the fourth book in the Hardy Durkin travel mystery series, although it works equally well as a standalone. This time Hardy finds himself up against some nasty Balkan gunrunners when long-time friend, Colonel Alain Clotiers, asks for Hardy's help in rescuing Captain Buvain, who he believes is being held captive by the gang. Hardy finds himself caught up not only in illegal arms dealing, but drug smuggling and sex trafficking too.

Hardy finds himself caught up not only in illegal arms dealing, but drug smuggling and sex trafficking too.
Dalmatian Traffick is a good read but it gets rather bogged down with facts about the history of Dalmatia and its people. Fine if you like that sort of thing but if not, you could be in for the long haul. Having visited Dubrovnik, Split and some of the other places mentioned in the book myself many years ago, some of it was personally relevant but even I found it a little on the 'weighty' side. It felt as though the book lost its way during these long narratives and, in my opinion, would have benefited from less history and more action. Anyone travelling to the area may find the book appealing but for me it was too protracted.
