'Tense and twisty, with an emotional punch and an intriguing plot. It's gripping stuff.' Karen Perry bestselling author of Girl Unknown

📕My Review

David Raker cannot believe his eyes when a woman walks into a police station in London claiming to be his wife Derryn. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to Derryn and knowing personal information about their marriage and life together, how could this not be her? Yet David nursed Derryn through the final stages of terminal cancer, buried her and grieved for her. Determined to prove this woman a fraud, David unearths a whole can worms. What he discovers sends shockwaves through his core.

What a wonderful book! I thought it was a brilliantly tangled web of twists and turns. Yes, it was over-the-top and far-fetched but at the same time, unputdownable and fantastically gripping. I was hooked from the get-go. It was intricate and excellently put together. Although part of a series, it works equally well as a stand-alone.

This was my first introduction to author Tim Weaver; therefore I had no preconceptions. It became immediately obvious I was in the very capable hands of a great storyteller. I wept at the sadness of a woman taken in her prime; I longed for her not be gone. I literally felt every emotion possible.

If you want suspense, thrills and action from beginning to end, this book is an absolute treat. In fact I enjoyed it so much I've bought more in the series to add to my reading list.

My thanks to Tim Weaver, NetGalley and Penguin UK - Michael Joseph for providing a copy of this book.

📗The Blurb

A woman walks into a police station and tells officers she's been missing for eight years. She has no phone and no ID, just a piece of paper with a name on it: David Raker.

Raker specializes in locating missing people. After his wife died, they became how he coped and moved on - and, almost a decade later, the disappeared aren't just his job any more, they're his life. So when the police call him, Raker agrees to meet the woman.

But this is no ordinary case - and no ordinary woman.

She looks exactly like his dead wife. She knows everything about their marriage, their history, even private conversations the two of them had. And soon, everything Raker thought he knew about his life, and about the woman he loved, will be exposed as a devastating lie . . .
